It's springtime—don't forget to smell the blossoms!Message from Bernadette Wulf

Greetings!

This has been one of those months where everything got a little… shuffled.

Between moving (just to the other side of my house), unpacking boxes, and that disorienting “where did I put my potatoes?” phase of life, I didn’t get to save the usual stack of health articles I like to share here.

But in a way, that feels… refreshing.

Because instead of passing along other people’s ideas, I found myself coming back to a few simple things I actually use—quiet, steady practices that make a real difference.

So this month is a little more personal. And hopefully, exactly what your body has been asking for.

And while it’s still springtime, don’t forget to go out and smell the blossoms. Your body will thank you!

WulfWorks News

I know it’s only the beginning of April, but I’m already thinking about Beltane, the Celtic cross-quarter day that has become known as May Day.

I’m not sure what the faeries have in store for us yet, but they are definitely clamoring for the spotlight in our Beltane Zoom ritual on Saturday, May 2nd. If you have ideas about where you would like them to take us, let me know what you’d like to explore.

Keep an eye on your inbox (or spam folder) for updates!

Nettles nutritional boostHerb Spotlight: Nettle (The Quiet Powerhouse)

If I could only keep one springtime herb in my kitchen, nettle would be very high on the list.

It’s not flashy. It’s not trendy. It’s just… deeply nourishing.

Nettle is packed with minerals—iron, magnesium, calcium—and it has this almost magical way of building you back up rather than pushing your body in any extreme direction.

People often think of herbs as quick fixes. Nettle is different. It’s more like a long-term ally.

Some gentle benefits:

  • Supports energy without stimulation
  • Helps strengthen hair, skin, and nails
  • Nourishes the adrenals (especially if you’ve been stressed or depleted)
  • Supports overall vitality in a very steady, grounded way
  • Even helps prevent allergies when consumed over time

The simplest way to use it:

Make a strong infusion.

Add a tablespoon (or more) of dried nettle to a quart jar, pour hot water over it, let it steep for a few hours (or overnight), and sip throughout the day. Or keep a big jar in your refrigerator for a refreshing iced tea on a hot summer day.

Don’t worry, once it’s dried or heated it won’t sting!

It’s not exciting in the way coffee is exciting.

But over time, it feels like your body quietly saying, “thank you… more of this, please.”

Add fresh fruits, greens and herbs for a healthy dietary shiftOne Simple Diet Upgrade (That Actually Sticks)

There are a million so-called “perfect diets” out there.

That’s not what this is about.

It is the smallest shift I know that creates real change:

Add something fresh and raw to every meal.

Before worrying about cutting things out of your diet, just add:

  • A piece of fresh fruit in the morning
  • A handful of greens with lunch
  • Some cucumber, sprouts, or fresh herbs on whatever you’re already eating

That’s it.

No overhaul. No pressure.

What happens is surprisingly powerful:

Your body starts receiving more hydration, more fiber, more living nutrients… and often, it naturally begins to crave better foods without force.

It’s like opening a window instead of rearranging the entire house.

What I’m Experimenting With: Clearing Parasites & the “Inner Terrain”

Here’s something I’ve been exploring lately.

Parasites are a fact of life, even in our relatively sanitized, modern world. You may test negative for the usual ones, but you probably harbor some type… especially if you have pets or like to walk barefoot outdoors like I do (or you handle raw meats—even the packaging).

Different traditions—herbal, holistic, even cultural practices—have long included some form of (often harsh) periodic cleansing as a way of removing parasites.

But lately, I’ve been curious about a gentler approach—something that works with the body rather than overwhelming it.

I came across this interesting system from my favorite flower essence company, Freedom Flowers:
Parasite Assassin Trio + ebook

You can buy them one at a time, or get all three and rotate between them as advised. I’m on #2 this week and it feels more potent than the first—not sure why that would be.

What intrigues me is that it’s not a typical herbal cleanse. It uses what they call frequency imprints of traditional cleansing plants like black walnut, wormwood, and clove—designed to support the body’s internal terrain in a more subtle way.

In other words, it’s energy medicine—which I think is the medicine of the future.

The idea is less about forcing a dramatic cleanse, and more about:

  • creating an environment that’s less hospitable to unwanted “hitchhikers”
  • supporting balance in the body
  • gently shifting cravings and internal patterns

It comes with a little guidebook that walks you through how to use the essences in a simple, realistic way (which I always appreciate).

I’m still in the experiment and observe phase with all of this—no big conclusions yet—though I do feel like a cleanse is in progress (more tired than usual).

I find it fascinating how many traditions, old and new, come back to the same idea:

  • Health isn’t just about what we add…
  • It’s also about what we gently clear.

As always—take what resonates, leave the rest, and trust your own body’s wisdom.

Drink water before a dehydrating drink like coffeeA Tiny Shift with Big Impact: Water Before Coffee

This one is almost too simple.

And yet… it changes everything.

After a night of sleep, your body is naturally dehydrated. When the first thing you drink is coffee, you’re layering stimulation and more dehydration on top of depletion.

That can wake us up, but it often leads to:

  • Jitters or anxiety
  • Energy spikes and crashes
  • That “wired but tired” feeling

Try this instead:

Drink a glass of water before your coffee.

That’s it.

You’re giving your body hydration first—supporting your cells, your brain, your digestion—before asking it to sort out the complex impact of coffee.

It’s a small act of cooperation with your body.

And strangely, drinking your coffee will often feel better afterward.

If there’s a theme running through all of this, it’s this:

Small choices… done consistently… create real change.

No extremes required.

Just listening a little more closely to what your body has been asking for all along.
