The edge of the New EarthGreetings!

What I do you want? Really? I would love to know.

Every month I read through lots of articles and listen to multiple audio and video recordings on health, wealth – and yeah, faery magic.

Why? Because I’m looking for what I want.

Though my life is wonderful in so many ways, I want even more joy, vitality, creativity, prosperity, magic and freedom. In short, I want to live in the New Earth reality all the time.

If that doesn’t make sense to you, don’t worry. The New Earth is dawning whether you are aware of it or not. Our planet is shifting to a higher, less dense energy level and that is stirring up a lot of turmoil in the world – as well as in human consciousness. It’s ultimately a good thing, even though it can sometimes make life a lot more challenging.

So what does the New Earth mean?

Since we aren’t all the way there yet, I can only tell you what it feels like to me… and it may be quite different for you.

My sense of the New Earth is very much connected with my experiences of the faery realms. That’s why I like to help people connect with the faeries and remember the beauty, abundant prosperity and creative joy that is woven into their reality. Their realm is a foreshadowing of what our world will become – as soon as we are ready to receive it.

It is also connected with the reason I write this newsletter every month. When you are healthy and happy, you help raise the vibration of the entire world. When you eat whole plant foods you help protect the environment as well as your own health. It all works together to uplift the world for all of us – health, wealth & faery magic! When you thrive, we all thrive.

And Don’t Forget the Science!

If all that seems way too “woo woo” to you, I also share a lot of nuts-and-bolts science to help you find the healthiest diet and lifestyle possible for yourself and your family. I love that stuff too.

This month we have a couple of articles on blood sugar/diabetes prevention – or cure, pain relief with ginger, lentils for an antioxidant boost and a quick and easy recipe for healthy “tater-tots.”

My World

My daughter and I are heading out on Monday for a cross-country railroad trip – California to New Jersey. It’s been on my bucket list for a long time. Four days and three nights on a train. Wish us luck!

Take a walkA Two Minute Walk Lowers Diabetes Risk

Diabetes rates are rising rapidly in the U.S. due to rising consumption of high fat diets and processed foods.

What? High fat, not high sugar?

Yup, without the fat, sugar doesn’t cause Type II diabetes, insulin resistance or blood sugar problems. That’s what the latest studies show.

Check out what Dr. Neal Barnard (expert in curing diabetes with diet) has to say about it. Dr. McDougall is another fount of scientific information on healing diabetes with a low fat plant-based diet.

The good news (if you want to skip the videos) is that you don’t have to spend a lifetime on diabetes medications for type II diabetes.

Type II diabetes has been completely cured with a low-fat whole-plant-foods diet – and medications have been greatly reduced for type I diabetes.

That’s not to say you should load up on processed sugars. But, if you stick to a low-fat whole-plant-foods diet, you can eat all the fruit and whole grains you like as long as you are not exceeding your calorie needs.

Another excellent way to fight diabetes is to walk, particularly after meals. Here’s what healthline.com recently posted:

A light 2-minute walk after eating can help lower blood sugar and reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

That’s according to a new meta-analysis of seven studies from researchers at the University of Limerick in Ireland.

The review results suggest the best time to walk is within 60 to 90 minutes after eating. This is the window when blood sugar levels typically peak.

(Though blood sugar will peak later if you use no-calorie sweeteners. See next article.)

Anyone can find two minutes to walk, even on the busiest day. So take advantage of this quick and easy way to keep your blood sugar under control.

Speaking of Blood Sugar

Here’s a really interesting video from Dr. Greger that shows why you really can’t fool your body with no-calorie sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit.

They won’t raise your blood sugar right away as white sugar does, but they will actually raise it even higher later. Weird, eh?

ginger for pain prevention and healingTry Ginger for Pain

Don’t reach for the Tylenol or another over-the-counter pain killer until you’ve tried ginger for a few days.

All of those drugs, prescription or otherwise, are toxic to some degree. They can damage your liver, kidneys, or stomach lining.

Ginger, on the other hand, is a safe and beneficial food. It has even been shown to help prevent cancer.

According to NutritionFacts.org:

There have been at least eight randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials of ginger for pain—for everything from osteoarthritis to irritable bowel to painful periods. I’ve made videos about all of those, as well as its use for migraine headaches. Overall, ginger extracts, like the powdered ginger spice you’d get at any grocery store, were found to be “clinically effective” pain-reducing agents with “a better safety profile than non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Ginger works best if you take at least 1 teaspoon of dried ginger per day for several days. The positive effects seem to build up over time with continued consumption.

Pumpkin smoothies anyone?

Lentils - top antioxidan legumesLentils for the Win!

Have you ever wondered which legumes are healthiest? When it comes to antioxidants, lentils lead the pack, with chickpeas close behind.

Of course all beans can be a healthy addition to your diet, and they are part of the diet of all the longest-lived populations in the world, but lentils seem to have more benefits than most.

From NutritionFacts.org:

Total antioxidant content of ten legumes, from most to least: lentils, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), small red beans, black beans, pinto beans, kidney beans, mung beans, black-eyed peas, navy beans, and lima beans. [ ]

When pitted against cholesterol in vitro to try to prevent oxidation, lentils also seem to stand out, perhaps making it “the best among all tested food legumes for the development of a dietary supplement for promoting heart health and for preventing cancers.”
