Mr. Q's BirthdayGreetings,

It’s July 1st and Mr. Q’s 33rd birthday. He’s been a delightful and entertaining buddy for all these years.

Happy Birthday Q!

I am really enjoying the summer weather in my neighborhood. As my friend Daily said, “we only have so many summers in a lifetime,” and who knows how many we have left? I hope you will get out and enjoy it too if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. If you’re down south, well… springtime is just around the corner.

This Month

You’ll be learning about how to get enough of the “happy molecule in your diet, taking a look at the cancer-alcohol connection, and getting an important warning about the HPV vaccine for those of you who have influence over the health care of girls.

WulfWorks News

For my magical peeps, I’m planning a workshop for August 2nd, all about Trees and Tree Spirits—nymphs, dryads, elves and the like. Keep an eye on your email if you’re interested.

I also have a fun little quiz for you at the end of this newsletter.

Are birth control pills the best choice for you?Are You Getting Enough Tryptophan?

Modern diets may be starving your brain of tryptophan, an essential amino acid that builds serotonin—the “happy molecule” which is vital for mood, sleep, memory, and even spiritual insight.

In spite of “paleo” and “keto” claims, ancient human diets were very low in meat. In fact, the typical high-animal-protein diet of today may block tryptophan from reaching the brain due to competition with other amino acids!

Meanwhile, industrial agriculture has slashed tryptophan levels in plants.

To boost brain health, reduce your animal protein, eat tryptophan-rich plants (like pumpkin seeds and legumes), avoid processed foods, and support organic regenerative plant-based farming.

Supplementing with tryptophan or 5-HTP may also help restore this forgotten brain fuel, but of course it is much better to get it from real food!

To learn more about where you can get all the tryptophan you need, read my blog post on the subject: Vegan Sources of Tryptophan: The Key to Joy, Sleep, and Inner Peace https://www.plantbasedvegancoach.com/no-need-for-cannibalism/

probioticAlcohol and Cancer

What you don’t know CAN hurt you! That’s all I’m going to say for now. Read the article if you want the truth about drinking alcohol.

From NaturalHealth365.com:

Here’s a sobering reality that should make every American reconsider their next drink: alcohol is directly responsible for an estimated 75,000 cancer cases and 20,000 cancer deaths every year in the United States.  Yet, new research published in JAMA Oncology reveals that most Americans remain dangerously unaware of this life-threatening connection.

I know people love their wine, beer and cocktails (I’ve even been known to have a sip on occasion), but I wonder if they love it enough to accept cancer as a consequence… probably not.

Living smack in the middle of California “wine country” as I do, it almost seems traitorous to post an article like this, but facts are facts and people need to make informed choices.

It doesn’t help to say, “I didn’t know” after the fact!

girls and HPV va-cc-ine dangersRaising Girls? Please Read This!

Quite a few years ago, I was a nanny for two girls and one of my jobs was taking them in for their doctor visits. When their doctor told me he was going to give them the HPV vaccine, without even consulting their grandparents who were raising them, I put my foot down. Nope! Not on my watch!

At the time, it was a relatively untested vaccine and I didn’t have a good feeling about it. After reading this article, I am so glad I put a stop to it. I don’t know if they ended up getting it when I wasn’t there, or not, but at least I did what I could to protect them.

From NaturalHealth365.com:

A University of Maryland study has delivered shocking news to millions of families considering HPV vaccination for their daughters.  Using rigorous scientific methods to track nearly 80,000 young women, researchers discovered that HPV shots significantly increase the risk of two serious health conditions that can devastate quality of life: autonomic dysfunction and menstrual irregularities.

It is appalling to me that we don’t require rigorous testing of vaccines long before they are released on the public. It breaks my heart (and pisses me off) to think of all they young women who have been damaged by this one, maybe for life.

Please, please, please be warned and share this warning with any parents or caretakers of young women or girls you may know.

Take a magical quiz onlineA Magical Quiz

I love taking a quiz or survey—not sure why, but maybe you do too. I guess it’s just curiosity!

I just took a little online class on how to create a quiz with Claude AI and it turned out pretty cool.

It’s just for fun and I won’t see your answers. So give it a whirl… unless you are not into all the magical stuff.
